Southport Macmillan Cancer Information & Support Centre Video Interview with Sue Summerfield



Sue Summerfield, a Specialist Cancer Nurse and the Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centre Manager, explains, in this video interview, what help and advice the centre will provide to the people of Southport.

The Cancer Information and Support Centre is open for members of the public, who can just walk in and ask for advice and information on issues relating to Cancer.

Information and services available include:
  • Information leaflets for patients and carers on a wide range of topics – cancer prevention and advice, signs and symptom awareness, treatments and side effects, local support groups.
  • One-to-one support sessions for clients referred by a health professional to receive a confidential assessment and advice.
  • Patient education programme – for patients and carers offering practical advice on living with cancer
  • Benefits advice - The centre has a dedicated member of staff who can advice on Benefits available to cancer patients and carers. They have a specialist knowledge of benefits, tax credits, grants and loans for people with cancer.
So, if you have a concern about Cancer, either for yourself or on behalf of a loved one, rather than wait and worry, why not pop in to the centre on Scarisbrick avenue and get some advice and reassurance from your local Cancer advisers.

The drop-in centre is currently open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm and is located in the Community Service Station, 23 Scarisbrick Avenue, Southport. From the end of April through to September, the centre will also be open on Saturday mornings.
