Quoted from Qlocal.co.uk:  Britain’s Got Talent finalist Tobias Mead and the Mayor of West Lancashire will be welcoming in the festive season as he switches on the Christmas lights at the Skelmersdale Concourse Shopping Centre.

This Friday will launch the Christmas period in the town at the ceremony in the Concourse.

Body-popping Tobias was a finalist in the 2010 series, thrilling viewers and judges with his street dance moves. He was also hand-picked by Take That to appear in their sell-out Circus tour.

There will also be live entertainment from Dan the Hat with his amazing hat manipulation techniques and yo-yo routines. Also taking to the stage from 4.30pm will be Icons, A Cheesy Christmas, Bling 'n'Ting, The Baad Mutha Funkas and Tap Dancing Turkeys!

Wacky duo DJ Booth and Vince Vinyl will be hosting the fun-filled evening and Father Christmas will also be welcoming families into his grotto.

Councillor Andrew Fowler, portfolio holder for Community Services and Health, said: “The Christmas lights switch-on in Skelmersdale this year promises to be a lively and exciting event for all the family.

"There’s plenty of great acts appearing live on stage, so don’t miss out on this fantastic evening.”

Councillor Rob Bailey, Mayor, will give an opening address at 5pm. He and parade of dignitaries and invited guests will be lead by the piper and town crier through the shopping centre to the stage for the carol service at 6.15pm. Skelmersdale Prize Brass Band and the Voices in Unison choir will help raise the roof by leading the crowd in the carol singing, with the lights switched on at 6.30pm.
